An Eye Witness to Abortion Murder

Posted by tfheringer on June 25, 2008

(My words here, if abortion is not murder up to 36 weeks by their definition of life then it is not murder after 36 weeks. Problem is that life does not start with the first breath, which this baby had taken already, but it does start at conception, that is just looking at it purely from the stand point of biology. All the elements of life are present when the sperm and egg meet, hence it is life. It is a moral and philosophical decision that says abortion is ok, but it isn’t a good decision.)

from ChristianNewsWire:

Operation Rescue calls for immediate suspension of Sella’s medical license and for an emergency closure of Tiller’s late-term abortion mill in light of this shocking audio-taped admission.

Contact: Troy Newman, President, 316-841-1700; Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Policy Advisor, 316-516-3034; both with Operation Rescue, info@operationrescue.org

WICHITA, Kansas, June 24 /Christian Newswire/ — A murder investigation has been opened involving Shelley Sella, a California abortionist employed by George Tiller, who is reported to have intentionally stabbed to death an infant born alive during an abortion at Tiller’s Women’s Health Care Services abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas.

Operation Rescue reported the incident to the Wichita Police Department after a former Tiller employee, Tina Davis, told Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger of the stabbing in April. It is believed that the alleged infanticide took place sometime in the past two years.

In addition, the incident has been reported to the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, which has confirmed that the case has been assigned to an investigator.

Abortionist Shelley Sella is a “circuit rider” who splits her time between Tiller’s Wichita clinic, a California Planned Parenthood clinic, and other, smaller abortion mills.

“Ms. Davis gave us a very specific eye-witness account about the incident,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We were told that the baby was 35 weeks gestation at the time of the abortion. The baby came out and was moving. Sella looked up at Ms. Davis, then picked up a utensil and stabbed the baby in the left ribcage, twisting the utensil until the baby quit moving. At 35 weeks, there is no doubt about viability. This is murder in anybody’s book.”

“We understand there are unique challenges to getting charges filed in this case since the body would have been cremated at Tiller’s on-site crematorium. Without a body, any murder case becomes more difficult,” said Newman. “However, because of the brutality of this murder and the gravity of this charge, we are compelled to demand that Tiller’s clinic be closed by the State until a full inspection and investigation can take place, and that the medical licenses of Sella and her boss, Tiller, be immediately suspended.”

“We have every reason to believe that the story she told us was true,” said Newman. “We have been able to confirm many of the other things she told us. Ms. Davis came forward because she was troubled by what went on at the abortion clinic, and was seeking peace. We pray she finds it.”

A Perversion of the Trinity

Posted by tfheringer on June 25, 2008

from Olive Tree Views:

Many have asked me to comment on William P. Young’s ragingly popular book The Shack. Is this work of fiction really Christian? It is called by some as one of Christianity’s most influential books. One prominent endorser says it will “leave you craving for God.”

Yet people I respect highly, including Dr. Albert Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Seminary, calls it “undiluted heresy.” He maintains there is no way it can seriously address the issues of Christian faith.

Here is the scenario in brief. Remember, this fiction plot is going to transform lives! A man by the name of “Mack” has a daughter murdered and he slips into a depression. He gets a message that he is supposed to meet God in the shack. Entering the shack, he is in the company of the Trinity, but now it gets weird and hard to believe anyone could be deceived by this piece of work.

In the shack he learns that God is “Papa” but is really an African-American female. Thankfully, Jesus is a Jewish man, but the Holy Spirit is another female figure of Asian descent. So much for Trinitarian theology! So Christianity has been misconstrued and has been revised. Talk about minimizing the Divine!

On page 110 Jesus says that He is perhaps not the way, truth, and life, but the BEST way to relate to the Father and Holy Spirit. Papa God, the African-American female, says she has many followers of many religions in different lands. This is not Orthodox Christianity, yet millions of Christian readers claim it is! Discernment has taken a summer vacation or perhaps a permanent vacation.

Mack asks “Papa” God, the female, about God’s wrath. The answer is that she doesn’t punish people for sin; rather she wants to cure sin. No mention of repentance, the shed blood, and all the things the new “seeker” environment wants to leave out in the church parking lot.

Former “New Ager” Warren Smith says, “The Shack is being described as a Christian novel and is currently ranked number one on the New York Times best-seller list for paperback fiction. Many believers are buying multiple copies and giving them to friends and family. The Shack reads as a true story but is obviously allegorical fiction. The book conveys postmodern spiritual ideas and teachings that challenge biblical Christianity – all in the name of ‘God’ and ‘Jesus’ and the ‘Holy Spirit.’ Author William P. Young’s alternative presentation of traditional Christianity has both inspired and outraged his many readers. All the while his book continues to fly off the shelves of local bookstores.”

Smith, who has been on my radio program many times denouncing Oprah Winfrey’s deception, goes on to say, “I was drawn into the ‘New Age Movement’ years ago by books and lectures containing parabolic stories that were not unlike The Shack. They felt spiritually uplifting as they tackled tough issues and talked about God’s love and forgiveness. They seemed to provide me with what I spiritually needed as they gave me much-needed hope and promise. Building on the credibility they achieved through their inspirational and emotive writings, my ‘New Age’ authors and teachers would then go on to tell me that God was in everyone and everything.

“I discovered that author William P. Young does exactly the same thing in The Shack. He moves through his very engaging and emotional story to eventually present this same ‘New Age’ teaching that God is ‘in’ everything.”

As writer and researcher Berit Kjos concludes, “Yet countless pastors and church leaders are delighting in its message. By ignoring (or redefining) sin and guilt, they embrace an inclusive but counterfeit ‘Christianity’ that draws crowds but distorts the Bible. Discounting Satan as well, they weaken God’s warnings about deception. No wonder His armor for today’s spiritual war became an early victim of this spreading assault on truth.”

So The Shack opens in the context of tragedy. Four years have passed since the cruel murder of Missy, Mack’s precious six-year-old daughter. Enveloped in grief, he receives a strange invitation. “I’ve missed you,” it says. “I’ll be at the shack next weekend if you want to get together. Papa.” What could it mean?

Doubtful, but drawn to the meeting, Mack heads for the Oregon wilderness and finds the dilapidated old shack. “God” miraculously transforms it into a cozy cottage, and Mack meets his supposed maker.

No, it doesn’t get any stranger but sadly, it doesn’t get more popular with Christians who miss the point that The Shack is intended to bring about a new definition of the Christian faith. As Albert Mohler says, “This is totally seductive and subversive, but readers, even believers, don’t seem to mind.” You can listen to all of his comments at this link.

If you know of someone taken in by this, please pass this commentary on to them. You’ll be doing them an enormous favor.

Bishop Eddie Long and Homosexuality?

Posted by tfheringer on June 22, 2008

from I am speaking the truth

It appears as though Eddie Long is doing what many (including his detractors) thought would NEVER happen…bend to the will of the homosexual lobby.

I must admit that I’m saddened by this apparent revelation. Sure, I have theological disagreements with Eddie Long because of his allegiance to the false prosperity gospel, his daft ability to twist scripture like an old pro, and his spawning of clones across the country.

Despite all of this, Eddie still stood firmly on the Word of God in reiterating that homosexuality is a sin that God will not ignore. He even led a march through downtown Atlanta in 2004 in support of heterosexual marriage.

Now, it appears that Eddie is bowing to pressure from the pro-gay lobby, has met the group Soulforce (a “gay christian” organization), and told Soulforce that there are “things about homosexuality that he needs to learn”.

So what is it that Eddie doesn’t “understand” about homosexuality? He’s been preaching against it all of his pastoral life, and he’s questioning scripture’s position regarding the subject now?

Our brother Pastor Foster over at Gay Christian Movement Watch first alerted us of this impending attempt of Soulforce to “dialogue” with Eddie last week (i.e. get him to see their point of view) (click here, here, here, and here for more details), and our brother Independent Conservative posted about it earlier this week as well.

You can see pictures of Soulforce’s visit with Eddie and his staff here, and you can read the article in a pro-gay newspaper that details the visit. Here’s an interesting quote from the article:

The meeting ended with Soulforce members offering to lead workshops at New Birth on human sexuality. Renee said the church is considering its options.

Homosexuality is a sin, and no “workshop on human sexuality” will change that fact. The Soulforce coalition seemed pretty happy to be at Club New Birth, but the CNB staff seemed elated for the opportunity to meet with them.

Unless this meeting was called to preach salvation and repentance from homosexual sin, it should’ve never been held (1 Corinthians 5). These Soulforce members have heard the truth, REJECTED IT, and “tweaked it” to fit THEIR AGENDA.

Let me be CRYSTAL CLEAR – God loves us even in our mess – and in turn, our love for Him and His truth means we must leave our mess behind. We are filthy rags, deserving eternal damnation apart from the redeeming Blood of Jesus Christ and the turning away from our flesh. This is an uncompromisable point. We can’t honestly serve a sinless Savior while holding onto the things that He hates!

I am not a “gay basher”, a homophobe, a “hater” or any other pejorative that will probably be hurled my way. I’m not perfect, nor will I try to reason the varying degrees of “sin”. I understand that many have been hurt through sexual molestation, and confused regarding same-sex attraction, etc. Homosexuality is a sin – and like every other unrepentant sin, it’s consequence is eternal separation from the Father. I stand on the Word of God, specifically:

Is there deliverance from homosexuality? ABSOLUTELY – 1 Corinthians 6:11 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 specifically speaks of deliverance over ANY SIN through salvation and faith in Jesus Christ.

Further, EVERY CHRISTIAN will struggle against sin – including sins of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21). What separates us from the world, however, is that we always repent and turn back to God. You can’t be “gay” and call yourself a true Christian if you continue in homosexual sin – remember, 1 Corinthians 6:11 Paul said “you were (fill in the blank)”…meaning before sanctification through the Blood of Jesus.

You’re either “ex-gay” or an “ex-Christian”.

The truth hurts, and it could be considered “offensive” to anyone that it speaks against – BUT THAT DOES NOT NEGATE IT’S MERIT.

The bottom line is this – Eddie Long has just (apparently) lost the firm footing he had on scripture as it relates to this particular sin.

Should he have attempted to evangelize the Gospel truth to sinners? YES! Should he have entertained an audience of unrepentant sinners (and their partners) in an attempt to assuage scripture for their comfort? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

To all of the Eddie Long sympathizers that ignore EVERYTHING else he’s ever done, can you overlook this too?

In accordance to 2 John 1:10-11, I WILL NOTentertain comments from Soulforce sympathizers, anyone who wishes to argue about being “born gay”, or anyone attempting to defend this meeting.

It is what it is – if you disagree, then visit a blog that supports your assertions – I will stand on the uncompromised, immutable, irrefutable Word of God.

Hagee not a Fundamentalist?

Posted by tfheringer on June 11, 2008

On the basis of this article I have some comments to make about John Hagee. He is a traitor to the Christian faith, once delivered unto the saints. He claims to not be a fundamentalist and then goes on to set up a straw man as a fundamentalist. He knocks down the snake handlers laughling claiming that they are fundamentalists. Goes on further and claims to believe the bible and practice it. Meaning he takes the bible literally when it is to his advantage. I would like to select out of this article several quotes and then comment on them. This includes a comment out of the editors notes. You can read the full article by clicking here. It is not my intention here to ride piggy back on anyones answers, but to point out inconsistencies with the Historical Christian Faith. The title of the article is intact below.

Christian Zionist Leader Hagee in Unprecedented Appearance at Reform Temple

Editor’s note: ” Hagee is also controversial for slurs against Catholicism (noted recently when he endorsed John McCain), Islam, gays — even Reform and Conservative Jews. Hagee/CUFI hold “Nights to Honor Israel” in cities around the country, usually at Christian churches.”

By Robin Podolsky, March 17, 2008. Special to JewsOnFirst.org

“On Tuesday, March 11, the Reverend John C. Hagee spoke as a guest at Stephen S. Wise, a Reform Temple in West Los Angeles (Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

This kind of strikes me strange, that he did not use this choice opportunity to present the claims of the Messiah? I imagine that also kind of perplexed this reformed Jewish congregation as well. This was toted as a dialog, which to me gave him the right to inject into his part of this dialog the claims of the Messiah Jesus (Christ Jesus is Messiah Savior). Again he missed one of those golden opportunities. The Lord Jesus Christ used His opportunities to press his claims when He spoke to His people in their synagogues, now why should not Hagee use the same opportunity? This brings another area of quandary to the fore front, it seems that Hagee has multiple gospels, one for the gentiles and one for the Jews, oh! Jews that have faith, even though it is not faith in the finished work of their Messiah. He even goes so far as to claim Jesus forsook His being the Messiah. He needs to read his bible just a little more closely, news flash Jesus was the Messiah and accepted it fully. He was rejected by the Jewish religious leaders of His day.

“When asked to identify himself theologically, Reverend Hagee said that he is Evangelical, which means that he “reads scripture” and then simply “does it.” He said that he is not fundamentalist, because he does not wish to be identified with the sort of people who handle snakes. (This was not the only time when Reverend Hagee appeared to cater to a prejudice that he expected his audience to share. At one point, he invited the mixed audience of Jews and evangelicals to commiserate with the difficulties of winning Texas “rednecks” to the task of combating anti-Semitism; he also described a rushed, hurried prayer as being like that of “a Presbyterian late for lunch.”) (Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

Hagee claims to be an evangelical and not a Fundamentalist. He states that an evangelical is one who ‘”reads scripture and then simply “does it.” Two interesting things about this statement, that strikes me as being a little off base, OK a lot of base, he has not defined what an evangelical is, only what an evangelical does. Wheaton College gives a good definition as to what an evangelical is and it seems to me that the snake handlers fit in better with the evangelicals then with Fundamentalists.

Defining Evangelicalism

“The term “Evangelicalism” is a wide-reaching definitional “canopy” that covers a diverse number of Protestant groups. The term originates in the Greek word evangelion, meaning “the good news,” or, more commonly, the “gospel.” During the Reformation, Martin Luther adapted the Greek term, dubbing his breakaway movement the evangelische kirke, or “evangelical church”-a name still generally applied to the Lutheran Church in Germany. In the English-speaking world, however, the modern usage usually connotes the religious movements and denominations which sprung forth from a series of revivals that swept the North Atlantic Anglo-American world in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Key figures associated with these revivals included the itinerant English evangelist George Whitefield (1715-1770); the founder of Methodism John Wesley (1703-1791) ; and, the American philosopher and theologian, Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758). These revivals were particularly responsible for the rise of the Baptists and Methodists from obscure sects to their traditional position as America’s two largest Protestant denominational families.(Wheaton College)”

Then he carried his form of prejudice one step further by “equating red necks of Texas” as being in need of conversion to his form of supporting the state of Israel. In the same breath here he is implying that Fundamentalists are ignorant fools, because we supposedly do not support the state of Israel. Finally, what does a hurried prayer have to do with “a Presbyterian late for lunch”. Some of his metaphors are very confusing, but the drift is he is trying to appease an audience, rather then stand for the truth.

Which brings me to the obvious question, if this is what an evangelical is, then what is a Fundamentalist? Cutting Edge gives this definition of what a Christian Fundamentalist is:

“….Fundamentalism, however, has never been and never could be limited to the affirmations of any particular denomination. The Fundamentals of Fellowship transcend denominational distinctives, and they do so without weakening or compromising such distinctives. For example, Fundamentalists have always been good Presbyterians or good Baptists and still able to fellowship with Fundamentalists of other groups. While Fundamentalists certainly do differ among themselves on certain interpretations of Scripture, they unite in fellowship and “common purpose for the defense of the Faith and the preaching of the Gospel,” accepting the Bible alone, without question, as the divinely and verbally inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God.” (Emphasis in the original).(Cutting Edge)”

This definition of what a Fundamentalist really is does not bare any resemblance to the snake handlers of John Hagee. This is the worst kind of mis-information in an era of mis-information. The sad thing is that Hagee and others get away with this pandering confusing type of thinking. What ends up happening is they listen to men like Hagee and then when they run into a real Fundamentalist, such as myself, they thing we are snake handlers. A person who supposedly represents the Christian community (which Hagee doesn’t represent all of the Christian community) they automatically think we handle snakes. This is full of a very devastating effect on the nature of truth and how we know it (epistemology). The Bible is truth with out any admixture of error and is authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. This includes everything from Genesis to Revelation, if Hagee really did understand what a Fundamentalist is he would have taken a strong stand for what we believe.

Not understanding what is at the basis of the Fundamentalist controversy is very obvious, but this ignorance on the part of Hagee is devastating. He has single handily (maybe not so much single handily) placed Fundamentalists on the defensive. As far as this Christian writer is concerned I stand separated from the likes of John Hagee, but am still standing on the firm ground of faith in the scriptures as our only rule for faith and practice. The scriptures are verbally and plenarly inspired, being without error in their original manuscripts.

“When Rabbi Woznica asked the Reverend if he was a literalist, he said that he was and that he did believe that the world was really created in six days and that Noah’s ark was real. On the other hand, in response to a follow-up question from Rabbi Woznica, Reverend Hagee said that he does not believe a Sabbath-breaker ought to be stoned to death, referring to Biblical laws as ‘word pictures’ that indicate ‘principles.’ Pressed further, Hagee said that he takes stories of miracles literally and that his belief in God as all-powerful and all-knowing has ‘never’ been shaken.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

Now this is real confusing, Hagee says he is a literalist and believes in the biblical doctrine of Creation, but he is not a Fundamentalist? These are issues that Fundamentalist will stand up for, the issues that are of concern to Fundamentalists are wrapped up in the question of the integrity of the Scriptures. The whole set of arguments that came out of old German liberalism set in question the reliability of the scriptures. It was these issues that the old Fundamentalists (as well as this one) stood against and wrote extensively about. For instance of those men in that generation there was G. Gresham Machen, who wrote The Virgin Birth of Christ a biblical defense of the virgin birth from the scriptures. Hagee is apparently unable to defend the scriptures from attack, because he does not even understand the arguments.

Now I do not get it, is he denying that the law of Moses did not prescribe the death sentence for Sabbath breaking? If that is the case he is not really ignorant, just sadly a deadhead. He says he reads the scriptures and applies the truths, but it is obvious in this case that is not true here. If he is clarifying how the scriptures apply to life today, he is not real clear as to how that is done. “Word Pictures”, or “principles” means absolutely nothing if you do not understand what was meant in its context. What he is missing is how God felt and feels about those who violate His law. In fact it was so serious to violate the law of Moses on the issue of the Sabbath, that the punishment for so doing was death. Which, opens up a whole lot of other issues, such as the first two commandments. There is only one true God and all others are idols. This makes worship very specific, worshiping God, must have scriptural content and that means that anyone that attempts to worship any other way is not worshiping God. This means that only Christians can really worship God, because in the church age the gospel has been entrusted to Christians. The Jews, Muslims, Catholics do not worship the only true God, but one that man has defined.

“Rabbi Woznica pressed the point in reference to Reverend Hagee’s famous remark that Hurricane Katrina can be best understood as God’s punishment for sin, homosexuality in particular. Hagee didn’t answer directly but responded with a précis of the blessings and curses described in Deuteronomy as the recompense for obedience or sin. He then went on to say that when a tragedy occurs, “you don’t know that day if it is a tragedy,” re-telling the story of Joseph who thought he was having a bad day when his brothers sold him into slavery and who later realized that the series of events leading to his position of leadership in Egypt represented the work of God on behalf of his entire people.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

I do not blame the Rabbi for pressing the point, it is obvious that Hagee does not have the nerve to back up his statements. If he is unable to give any proof to the truth of his statements, then he has no business making the statement in the first place. Most certainly Hurricane Katrina was a part of the judgement of God, but not any more then any other disasters have been historically. It can be seen in scripture the relationship between disasters, such as Sodom and Gomorrah, and how God has dealt with a sinful mankind. However, it is not a prudent idea to make a statement such as he has when there are so many others that need to be made. I can not understand why he failed to confront the Jewish People with the sin of their disobedience from the point of Sinai to the death of Christ. I do not hold that the Jewish people alone were responsible for the Crucifixion anymore then Pilot was. It took Jews and Gentiles to put the Messiah to death. It took God to bring Him back to life literally. It is obvious from reading him that Hagee does not believe in the sovereignty of God.

“Then the tone of the conversation changed abruptly. Rabbi Woznica asked the Revered if we are always obliged “to forgive.” Hagee said that we are only obliged to forgive in response to a promise of changed behavior, because to forgive without a promise of different conduct is to “make the grace of God an accomplice to evil.” The Reverend went on to remind us of the story of Jesus and the adulterous woman-Jesus, whom Hagee described as a “Reform Rabbi” (!) rescued from the crowd “of Pharisees” about to stone her and told her to “go and sin no more.” The point being that the woman was forgiven, but not without conditions.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

This one makes me laugh, this is the exact same question that the temple authorities asked Christ. They were constantly trying to trip Him up with questions that they thought would cause Him to make a mistake so they could jump on Him about it. This is exactly what happened in Matthew 18:21-22, I include it here so you can see how wrong Hagee is: (Mat 18:21) Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? (Mat 18:22) Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Where in this scripture does Jesus make a condition of forgiveness only when their is changed behavior? I will tell you it does not make even remotely one condition such as Hagee describes. We are to forgive as many times as it takes and permanently if necessary.

“Support of Israel?
Reverend Hagee said that he wished the audience to understand that his work “in support of Israel” was not aimed at conversion of Jews to Christianity. He then expressed irritation at being asked if his work with Christians United For Israel (CUFI, which Hagee heads) had to do with the Apocalypse. He said, “Only a moron would ask a question like that.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

He had the Gall to say “Only a moron would ask a question like that.” When in another mans house you do not call him a moron when he asks the question. He only said that to avoid having to answer the question. The answer is simple Israel will come corporately to God in His time, that is God’s time. The Apocalypse is now closer at hand then it has ever been before. Should Christians sit back and refuse to support Israel, because it might be trying to grease the wheel? Hagee you were invited so you should have told them the truth, now they have no idea of what an evangelical Christian believes let alone a Fundamentalist.

Rabbi Woznica smiled and said that the question had been “on his list.” However, perhaps because he was uncomfortable at the possibility of his guest calling him a moron or because he was distracted with other questions, he never returned to the issue again.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

I feel for the Rabbi and I do not blame him for not returning to this question, he should have called Hagee on this one, if for the sake of the ignorance of Hagee

“Therefore, the audience never got a chance to hear what the Reverend would have said if someone had asked him to explain his dismissal, in advance, of any discussion of the Apocalypse in the context of the discussion that followed.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

I am going to take these two sections to gether one point at a time:

“At one point, Reverend Hagee said that, following the example of his father, also a minister, he regards the founding of the State of Israel to be the most important event of the 20th Century-because this ‘in-gathering’ is a necessary prelude to the rebuilding of the Temple, the battle of Armageddon and revelation of the Messiah, whom Hagee believes to be Jesus Christ. At the sight of the Messiah, the “remnant” of the Jews who would be left after the Armageddon struggle (Hagee coyly observed that while, remnant sounds bad, “we don’t actually know how big a remnant is”) would “weep at the sight of the one whose side they (!) had pierced.” This account is absolutely at odds with Hagee’s earlier statement that it is wrong to interpret the Christian Bible to suggest that the Jews killed Jesus, because that killing was actually a “Roman conspiracy.” Rabbi Woznica, doing his game best to follow the argument, did not interrupt to point out this inconsistency.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

What kind of gets me wondering is that Hagee is unaware of what he has said? He changes his doctrinal beliefs so quickly that it gets hard to follow him. First he says that all Jews are going to be saved, because Jesus had saved them whether they like it or not. Then he talks about a very real remenant that is described in detail in the book of Revelation, written by a Jews mind you. His making the killing of Christ solely a Roman thing, ignores the strong evidence in the gospels for the involvement of the leaders of the Jews. There is no evidence that the Crucifixion was a “Roman conspiracy”, but their is evidence that there was a Jewish temple leadership conspiracy. Does that mean all Jews are responsible for the death of Christ? No they are not, remember we are talking about a historical event during Jewish times. Conspiracy aside were the Romans also responsible, yes they were, they did the actual Crucifixion. My answer is that it took Jews and Gentiles to put the savior to death.

“To this Reform audience, Hagee insisted that CUFI is a ‘one-issue’ organization that does nothing but “support Israel,” sending out lobbying brigades to Congress with focused talking points on that subject alone. But he was never asked how, in light of his belief that the War of Armageddon is necessary to the chain of events that will bring on the world to come, such a belief colors his notion of what “support” for Israel means. (The Rabbi admitted that he has not read Hagee’s book, Jerusalem Countdown, and asked Reverend Hagee to send him a copy.)(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

I salute the Rabbi if he reads this book after being called a moron! I think that the moron was probably Hagee. If I understand prophecy well, nothing that we do on this side of the Rapture will have any effect on what is going to come down on the other side. This means that the only effect will be the same type that occurred between the end of the dispensation of law and the start of the dispensation of grace. Certainly there will probably be some overlapping. That is some things that happened before will have lasting results.

‘Christian right leaders on CUFI’s board
Hagee also has, on the Board of CUFI, assembled the most socially right wing Christian ministers, who are working, actively, to re-brand the United States as a Christian nation. Hagee was never asked how, if he believes that the removal of Jews from the United States to Israel is an eschatological necessity and, if he is working to turn our constitutional democracy into a Christian nation, what he thinks the role of Jews as US citizens ought to be.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”

This point here is debated among students of end time eschatology, but the bottom line is the anti-Christ will line up to defend Israel and make a compact to give Israel 7 years of peace. The peace will be broken mid way thru the 7 years. This the way the scriptures lay it out, but there is a lot of detail that is not covered in scripture.

“He admitted that the Crusaders were “liars, murderers, rapists and thieves;” that Jews were tortured during the Inquisition; that the perpetrators of the Holocaust were, for the most part “baptized Christians in good standing within their congregations.” He admitted the anti-Jewish screed of Martin Luther. (And, no, he was never asked to explain his remark that the Catholic Church is a “whore.”) Hagee said it was time that Christians acknowledged the anti-Judaism that has run through Christian history and “asked forgiveness.(Podolsky, JewsOnFirst.org)”‘

Finally the last point here is that Hagee does one good thing he admits that persecution of the Jewish people has been going on for a long time. I have a hard time believing that the so called baptised Christians in good standing within their congregations were good Christians. Hagee needs to do some reading about what Hitler did to the churches in Germany. I am not going to cover it here, but may do so later. Needless to say, the churches in Germany were under the thumb of the Nazi’s. It is time to admit that many wrong things have been done to the Jewish people over the last 2,000 years. However, there is also the long line of Baptist believers stretching back to the New Testament who were also treated to cruelty and death. The Jewish people were not by their selves in this area, Rome is indeed a whore and she has wrecked her havoc on many peoples. Ultimately she is going to be dragged to Judgement in front of our very sovereign God to give answer to HIM. I await the day when I do get to see my savior face to face and meet my Jewish friends who have proceeded me there. Yes there is such a thing as a Jewish Christian, for one thing Jesus was Jewish as were all the apostles. God bless

Just a nagging question?

Posted by tfheringer on June 11, 2008

What did evolutionists think was going to happen to society when they took the Bible and God out of it. Did they honestly think they were going to create a better society? Did they really think that this brave new world they envisioned would be a morally pure one? Did they even take into consideration the empact of leaving the Ten Commandments out would make men good?

The end of the road is now clearly in site of where we stand. Certainly God does have much to say about what we are doing today, but the real question is do we really care?

If you do not want to believe in God and be a through going athiest, then evolution is exactly what you want. It takes God completely out of the equation the net result is a Godless society with no real meaningful rules. No one to tell us we should not be acting this way or not. I am not alone in saying that you asked for a society with no moral rules, except those you like, this is exactly what you earned. No rules mean school shootings, skyrocketing crime rates, divorce at an all time high rate and of course then there is always the question of the moral morase brought to us by excepting homosexuals as just a different life style as opposed to being an abomination to God. These things have brought us to a cross roads of sorts, will we keep going down this road or can we change directions before it is eternally to late. You should have listened to one of your own prophets and taken a moment to meditate before you took this step.

PROFESSOR ADUOUS HUXLEY
“I have always been strongly in favor of secular education without theology, but I must confess that I have been no less seriously perplexed to know by what practical measures the religious feeling, which is the essential basis of moral conduct, is to be kept up in the present utterly chaotic state of opinion on these matters without the use of the Bible.”

There is Only One Faith and Doctrine

Posted by tfheringer on June 5, 2008

There is this persistent teaching today, that says Christians ought to open armed and acceptible to other religions. After all they say we really worship the same God and are brothers. Is this really true? There is also a practice of religion without Biblical authority. What this means is we no longer have to resort to scripture to tell us what to believe and how to live, just have faith in something and that is enough. Many seem to have little or no knowledge of the Bible the infallible book by which Christians in times long past have resorted to for a rule of life. Does the bible say that we can believe anything we want to and that God will accept it? Or is God a little bit more specific then that:

“Mat 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. “

Our Lord said, that those who follow Him will find himself in disagreement with their own family. This is the beginning point of division becoming a believer a real believer in Christ it makes you a member of God’s family and sets you at variance not only with your own family, but humanity as a whole. The Bible is very specific as opposed to being very open minded about who has the right belief.

“(Mat 7:14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

The way to heaven is actually very narrow anything that suggests another way of making it to heaven is completely absent. If there had been more then one way to make it to heaven then the bible would have said something about it.

(Act 4:10) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

(Act 4:11) This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

(Act 4:12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

(Act 4:13) Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”

In the scriptures instead of finding a very subjective man made faith we find just the opposite a very objective faith, based on a very select set of doctrine. The religious authorities of the Lord Jesus day put Him to death, because he preached a doctrine that was not the one they wanted to hear. That teaching was that men must believe in Jesus Christ or face judgement in front of God’s judgement seat in the future. There is no salvation and, that is what’s important, anywhere else but at the foot of the cross and the open tomb. Christianity is a propositional faith, based on the doctrine of scripture. The road that leaves from the cross is a very narrow one, with a very set faith in God’s inspired Word.

The testimony of the New Testament was that believers were marked as having been with Jesus. Once you have confessed Christ there is nothing else you need and you find that you must tell others about Him.

If this is devisive then so be it. If it is dangerous, then so be it. If it leads to martyrdom then so be it. I have known Him for better then 49 years and have never known Him to desert me. I will not back down on this.

What has brought me to this is the so called interfaith movement of Tony Blair. He has in effect called all true believers in Jesus Christ as being dangerous. That makes me dangerous, watch out maybe God will make you a believer, then you will also be dangerous. This is not the first time that it was dangerous to become a Christian, in fact it has always been dangerous, it demands a changed life and atitude.

Jesus is the Messiah of Israel

Posted by tfheringer on May 16, 2008

John Hagee’s claims that Jesus never offered Himself to Israel as Messiah and that Jesus rejected being the Messiah to Israel is pure foolishness. John Hagee is either a very cunning manipulator or very ignorant of the Bible and maybe both.

Hagee’s claims about the Jesus not offering Himself as Messiah to Israel has got me so riled that I have started through the gospels looking for everything that points to Jesus coming to be just that The Messiah to Israel. So far I have got to Matt 11 long way to go, but wow! Is there ever a strong message in this, if Jesus did not come to be the Messiah, then neither did He come to be the savior either. He was called both Jesus and Christ, the one being savior the other being Greek for Messiah. The offer he made on the day we refer to as the triumphal entry was just that a legitimate offer to Israel of David’s Son as King of Israel and Messiah. Jesus never ever rejected His people, but they most certainly rejected HIM, I await the return of King Jesus! He will rule as the prophets say with a sword of iron! Nothing less then Jesus Blood and Righteousness, the gospel is the one thing not being preached today that will make a difference in the hearts of men and woman. The death, burial and resurrection is the only answer, Christ came to give Himself as our Redeemer. God does not want numbers He wants mankind to turn to the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for their sins and eternal life. This age we live in is the very end of the age. I believe again that Jesus is coming very soon.

I am preparing a message on this very subject visiting every portion of scripture possible dealing with the subject, is Jesus Israels Messiah? Check back and watch.

Potpouri Evangelism…

Posted by tfheringer on May 15, 2008

(my thoughts exactl, we are nearing the end of the age and it is going to get worse) To view the whole of Pilgrims Progress

From Way of Life:

By James Alexander Stewart, D.D.

Satan is dishing out today in the Name of the Lord a potpourri evangelism.

The dictionary suggests, among other definitions, that pot-pourri means a “mixed pot with a bad odor.”

In 1940 I preached the message on “Hollywood Evangelism” which girdled the globe and which was read by a vast number. This message was a protest against a cheap vulgar “amateurish” evangelism which robbed the Christ of God of His dignity and reduced the glorious gospel to a message of entertainment. “Pot-pourri Evangelism” robs the gospel of its power and the Cross of its reproach.

I have waited again for someone to sound the alarm in God’s holy mountain.

The time has come when I can keep no longer silent. This loving message of warning burns within me. “For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?” I believe pot-pourri Evangelism is more sinister that “Hollywood Evangelism.”

As one of the Puritans quaintly expressed it, “The face of error is

highly painted and powdered so as to render it attractive to the

unwary.” Satan comes as a roaring lion to persecute, or as an angel of light, to patronize (1 Pet. 5:8; 2 Cor. 11:14). Satan as an angel of light is more to be dreaded than Satan as a roaring lion. A patronizing enemy is more dangerous than a persecuting enemy. John Bunyan warns us of this in his Pilgrim’s Progress. Christian had a hard fight with Appolyon in the Valley of Humiliation, and the enemy nearly overcame him; but the Sword of the Spirit in the hand of Christian put even his strong enemy to flight. Later, Christian and Hopeful, having been up the Delectable Mountains, and coming to a cross-way, stop and confer as to which road they shall take.

Presently a black man in a light robe asks the travelers the reason of their standing there. They tell him their perplexity, and are led by him, as they supposed, the right way. But, instead of conducting them aright, the black stranger has brought the travelers into the compass of a net, and they wake up to know the wiles of a flatterer.

We must beware of the flattery of the world in its commendation and patronage.

We must be more afraid of flattery from the camp of the enemy than persecution. Read the pages of Church history. Persecution never did the Church of God any harm, but compromise with the world has always robbed it of the power of its purity. Heroic Bishop Latimer knew this truth of persecution when, dying at stake, he turned to saintly Ridley with these blessed words, “We shall this day light such a candle, by God’s grace, in England, as I trust will never be put out.” We must never forget that Satan as an angel of light is a most beautiful spectacle, and that is why so many dear saints are deceived. “Pot-pourri Evangelism” consists of two features: mixed evangelistic campaigns and mixed Christianity.

MIXED EVANGELISTIC CAMPAIGNS

By mixed evangelistic campaigns I mean the alliance of Modernistic and Evangelical churches together in an evangelistic effort. The devil is very religious and the world system he controls has its own worldly religion. In Deut. 22, verses 9 to 11, God has stated clearly His laws of separation:

“Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together. Thou shall not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together.” The mixed seeds speak of mixed teaching.

The mixing of the ox and ass speaks of mixed service.

The mixture of wool and linen speaks of mixed conduct.

The message of Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy is that God is a holy God and demands a holy people. The Israelites and their cattle were stamped with the marks of separation. By forbidding the intermingling of seeds, and animals, and garments, God teaches us the great eternal truth of sanctification. The Scripture abounds with

this blessed teaching. “No man can serve two masters: for either

he will hate the one, and love the other; else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matt.

6:24). Christ did not say that it is difficult but that it is IMPOSSIBLE to serve two masters.

“No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved” (Matt. 9:16-17).

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light and darkness? and what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God: as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you” (2 Cor. 6:14-17).

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Pet.

2:9).

You will remember the very solemn lesson we have in the experience of the Children of Israel. In Exodus 12:38 they flagrantly violated God’s holy command in allowing the mixed multitude to come out from Egypt with them.

This mixed multitude of uncircumcised people was a continual source of weakness and trouble to the saints of God. They caused them to stumble and fall and compromise their position as a holy people (Num.

11:4).

Thank God that during the times of reviving in the days of Nehemiah the saints dealt with this God-dishonoring compromise. When they rediscovered the law of God they separated the mixed multitude from Israel. They once again became a peculiar people unto the God Who had redeemed them. Remember, an unequal yoke makes for bad ploughing and crooked furrows.

HUMAN RELIGION

As one aptly said,

When religion gets up a revival, it must have from five to twenty churches of heterogeneous creeds and sectarian bodies go into a great union effort; it must have a mammoth choir with great musical instruments, and many preachers and multiplied committees, and each committee headed by some banker, judge, mayor, or millionaire’s wife.

It signs cards as a substitute for the broken-hearted cry of scriptural repentance. It must count its converts by the hundreds in a few days’ meeting. It must apologize for natural depravity. Human religion thinks it will conquer the world; it curls up its lips at the coming Jesus, thinks the world is growing beautifully better and is forever forming itself into fresh organizations of “leagues,”

“endeavors” and “brigades.” It denies holiness, ignores the omnipotent personal agency of the Holy Ghost, steers clear of all divine manifestations, is terrified at the supernatural in Grace, discounts personal testimony, is afraid of weeping, is terrified at a “hallelujah,” and thinks that the sobs of a penitent should be stifled with a lavender- scented handkerchief. Human religion’s enterprises have an atmosphere of earthliness about them. It despises the day of small things and scorns little humble people and lonely ways. It is easier to jump to the height of prosperity. Its music has no pathos in it, its laughter lacks divine cheerfulness, its worship lacks supernatural love, its prayers bring down no huge answers, it works no miracles, calls forth no criticism from the world, and it has no light of eternity in its eyes. It is a poor, sickly thing, born of the union of the heart of the world with the head of Christian theology-a mongrel, bastard thing with a backslidden church for its mother and the world for its father.

Oh, my dear brother and sister, never forget that this unnatural monster will be destroyed at the coming-again of our Blessed Lord Jesus. The above described human religion is the “mixed multitude”

with which evangelical fundamental churches sometimes find themselves allied in an evangelistic campaign.

MIXED CHRISTIANITY

In our Christian world today Satan has created a mixed Christianity by destroying the meaning of our evangelical terms and the great fundamental words of the gospel. He has also succeeded in removing the line of demarcation between the world and the redeemed. By defective gospel preaching and subtle usage of evangelical phrases, we have bastards and sons mixed together in evangelical circles (Heb.

12:8). By robbing the cross of its stigma, and failing to demand a supernatural experience in the “new birth,” many preachers have reduced the Message of the Cross to a meaningless Evangel.

It cannot be denied that there is a religious revival in America today. The Modernistic churches are in many cases full to capacity.

The Roman Catholic church is experiencing its greatest revival, while two of its leaders have once again been voted as among the ten most prominent figures in American life. False sects are “mushrooming”

everywhere and one of them can bring together one hundred and twenty-five thousand delegates daily for a week’s convention.

Along with this religious revival has come a wave of popularity for

so- called Evangelical Christianity. On the surface it seems very flattering encouraging, but in reality it is dangerous and deathly.

Almost everybody is religious. It is popular to be religious. It is fashionable to be a church member and even to talk about being saved.

(Of course the phrase “supernaturally born again” is not popular, because that demands a new creation in Christ Jesus as the result of a new birth.) Movie stars, popular entertainers, Disc Jockeys, Sportsmen, Mayors, and Politicians, all are fluent in talking about religion. It is not uncommon for one of these personalities to tell you to “go to [the] church [of your choice] on Sunday,” and “read

your Bible,” and “God is the only hope of America.” A story with a

religious slant will hit the front page.

A religious jazzy song will be among the ten top tunes in the Hit Parade. Our evangelical Christians seem to be thrilled and flattered when some ungodly outstanding figure of the world condescends to say something nice about the gospel. We have reached such a low state of spirituality that we are excited when a prominent personality professes conversion and speaks our evangelical vocabulary-even though his life shows no evidence whatsoever of the revolutionary change wrought by the gospel of Christ. We have so lost the vision of the power and dignity of our blessed Lord that we think it very wonderful when one of these unregenerated leaders “helps God out” in His great enterprise of evangelism.

SATAN’S STRATAGEMS

In the mixed corrupt Christianity we see Satan’s masterstroke exhibited.

The Protoevangelion of Gen. 3:15 describes the Conflict of the Ages, between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. This battle will continue through the ages until Satan is finally cast into the Lake of Fire. The conflict goes on today. We must not be ignorant of his “wiles” (Eph. 6:11) Satan sought to destroy the seed royal to hinder the promise of God from being fulfilled. (See 2 Ki.

11:1-3.) The devil’s business now is to hinder the completion of God’s work for this age through the spread of the pure gospel. Both Paul and Peter warn us of the wiles of Satan in these last perilous days. “Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.” (2 Tim. 3:8). Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses by duplicating the work of God by satanic power (Ex. 7:10-12). This is exactly one of Satan’s wiles today.

R.B. Jones has left on record the following warning:

“Satan is not the enemy of Revival in itself. It would not be difficult to show historically that at times Satan, somehow aware of God’s purpose in this respect, has managed to forestall God by sending a counterfeit of the revival God intended. Also, when he had failed in forestalling, it could be shown how he has succeeded in troubling the stream of Revival, which though pure as crystal at its source at the throne of God, gradually became turbid and impure.”

Thus by counterfeiting, Satan hinders the believers praying for the real, supernatural, spontaneous outbreaking of the Spirit of God.

Blasphemous semi-evangelical songs with the music composed in Hell are the “hits” of the hour. What a violent contrast to the hymnology that was born in the great Revivals!

Satan hates the Cross, because the Cross is the symbol of his defeat.

The object of Satan’s attack has always been the Cross of Christ.

“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Col. 2:15; see also Isa. 53:12).

His be the Victor’s name, Who fought the fight alone; Triumphant saints no honor claim, His conquest was their own.

Bless, bless the Conqueror slain, Slain in His Victory! Who lived, Who died, Who lives again, For thee, my soul, for thee!

In Exodus we have four strategies of Satan. The first suggestion is the most dangerous, and it is highly popular today: “Go sacrifice to God in the land” (i.e. “You don’t have to leave Egypt to serve your

God.”) Exodus 8:25.

In “Pot-pourri Evangelism,” the Cross is no longer the Church’s symbol of stigma and reproach (Gal. 5:11; 6:14). General William Booth, with great prophetic insight, stated over fifty years ago:

“The chief danger of the twentieth century, will be

Religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, Forgiveness without repentance. Salvation without regeneration, Heaven without hell.”

What would this man of God say to our day and generation regarding this new danger? Satan does not mind our worshiping and preaching a Cross without its stigma. He has garlanded the “Old Rugged Cross of shame and reproach” with bouquets of flowers from worldings who have never left his employment.

How different is the attitude of two godly bishops of the Church of England. “Oh God,” cried Bishop Taylor Smith, “we are neither fit for earth nor heaven, but only to be hung between on a cross!” Bishop J.C. Ryle rightly says, “A cheap Christianity, without a cross, will prove in the end a useless Christianity without a crown.” We are in grave danger when we court the applause of the world.

Think of how Paul bore the stigma of his message! “For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as it were, appointed to

death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the off-scouring of all things unto this day” (1 Cor. 4:9-13).

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,

In my place condemned He stood,

Sealed my pardon with His blood:

Hallelujah! What a Saviour.

In “Pot-pourri Evangelism” there is very little emphasis on separation from this present evil age. The challenge of Mark 8:36 is unnecessary. The story of saving grace as described by Paul in Ephesians, chapter two, is meaningless in “Potpourri Evangelism.”

Puritan John Bunyan and Bishop John Commenius in their strikingly similar books, Pilgrim’s Progress and Labyrinth of the World portray a Christianity which is sheer nonsense to the friends of “Mixed Christianity.” “Vanity Fair” and “The Market Place of the World” are unrecognized places to many of the adherents of “Mixed Christianity.”

WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURES?

The gospel will ever be foolishness unto the natural man (1 Cor. 1:18).

The gospel will always be unpalatable to the natural man (Isa.

53:2,3; Rom. 8:7; 1 Cor. 2:14).

The natural man is unable to comprehend and appreciate the things of God (Jn. 3:10; 1 Cor. 2:14).

Christ crucified will always be a stumbling block and offense to the unregenerate man (1 Cor. 1:23).

The unregenerate man is dead and needs new life in Christ (Jn. 3:7; Jn. 5:24).

The unregenerate man can only be born again by the miraculous work of the Holy Ghost, resulting in a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17).

A regenerate man is a new creation in Christ Jesus and is delivered from this present evil age (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 1:4; Col. 1:12-13).

The regenerate man must bear the stigma of the reproach of the Cross of Christ (Gal. 2:20; Heb. 13:13).

The regenerate man will glory in all the implications of the Cross of Christ (Gal. 6:14).

THE TRUE MESSAGE

In closing, I feel that in order to counteract this “Pot-pourri Evangelism” we must emphasize three definite phases of the gospel Message.

First: Regeneration is the supernatural work of the Holy Ghost which man himself cannot accomplish.

How can we believe in the latter part of John 6:37 and not believe the first part? “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” Effectual calling is the work of God’s Spirit, whereby, convincing me of my sin and misery, enlightening my mind in the knowledge of Christ, and renewing my will, He did persuade and enable me to embrace Jesus Christ, freely offered to me in the gospel.

Second: We are saved from a life of sin to a life of holiness. The gospel is not just that Christ died to save us from the penalty of sin (Jn. 3:16).

That is only part of the gospel Message. What saith the Scriptures?

“Who gave Himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world.” (Gal. 1:4).

“Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people” (Titus 2:14).

“Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it.” Why? That He might save it from the future punishment of sin alone? No! “That He might present it to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

(Eph. 5:27).

Salvation is more than a passport to Heaven; it is deliverance from the dominion of sin in this life (Titus 2:11-12).

Third: Receiving Christ as Saviour means repenting from sin and acknowledging Christ as Lord (Luke 13:3; Acts 11:18; Acts 17:30; Acts 16:31; Rom. 10:9).

Evangelical repentance is a breaking from the dominion of sin. True repentance is always accompanied by a heartlonging after holiness. It is a false gospel that divorces Christ the Saviour from Christ the Lord. The sinner is a rebel who must repent and lay down his arms of rebellion before the king of Kings. “Christ will save none but those who are brought to resign themselves sincerely to the obedience of His Royal authority and laws” (Walter Marshall, 1692). “God now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.” The gospel is not “believe on Jesus, and thou shalt be saved,” but “believe on THE LORD JESUS Christ and thou shalt be saved.” “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Rom.10:9).

As in “Hollywood Evangelism,” I plead for true evangelism in the old-fashioned way. Let us preach a full-orbed gospel, setting forth all the implications of repentance and forgiveness. Let us go outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

Our Lord is now rejected,

And by the world disowned;

By the many still neglected,

And by the few enthroned.

But soon He’ll come in glory!

The hour is drawing nigh,

For the crowning day is coming by and by.

Let all that look for, hasten

The coming joyful day,

By earnest consecration,

To walk the narrow way;

By gath’ring in the lost ones,

For whom our Lord did die,

For the crowning day that’s coming by and by.

Sacramento, is this church?

Posted by tfheringer on May 7, 2008

This is really pathetic, that the church that the Reformation founded through John Knox has sunk to this kind of thing. However, since they really do not have anything anymore, then it is to be expected.

“Members of Sacramento’s Faith Presbyterian Church found religion Saturday in knitting and crocheting, baking and boiling, weeding and planting.

The Greenhaven/Pocket area church canceled its regular Sunday services this week and instead asked people to give up their weekend to help others.

Its theme, “Don’t go to church, be the church,” is part of a movement that’s spreading through churches across the country.

“It’s a chance to get our hands dirty and serve together,” said Faith’s pastor, the Rev. Jeff Chapman.

More than 300 volunteers are expected to help with 14 projects Saturday and today during what the church is calling Compassion Weekend.

Mainly church regulars but also students and neighbors, they’ll be doing everything from painting walls at senior living facilities to playing with kids living in public housing.

“I would love if one church did this every weekend,” said Carey Kincaid, a member of the church committee organizing the event.

The delectable smells of blueberry cakes, cheesy broccoli bakes and chicken patties filled the church Saturday as volunteers put together a week’s worth of meals for about three dozen people with health problems or other challenges.

“When there’s an illness, food preparation is the first thing to go,” said volunteer Miki Vohryzek-Bolden.

The church asked Vohryzek-Bolden, who labels herself a nondenominational traveling cook, to help with its Cooking for Friends program.

The retired criminal justice professor tries to encourage what she calls “cooking communities” – making food for those who need it.

In another room at the church, crocheters and knitters crafted patchwork blankets for the Children’s Receiving Home, an emergency shelter in Sacramento.

“If we’re giving to children, there’s nothing more comforting than a warm blanket,” said Amy Bundock, a senior at Kennedy High School and a church member who headed up the project.

Earlier this year, Bundock and her mother started knitting squares. Volunteers knitted more on Saturday, then crocheted 42 squares together to make each blanket. They hope to make at least a dozen.

Although he had never crocheted before, Greg Mar quickly learned Saturday.

The Kennedy High junior, who’s not a member of Faith church, was fulfilling part of his community service requirement with the National Honor Society.

“This way I can spend time with friends and help out the community,” he said.”

Psychology is Evolutions answer to confessing to God

Posted by tfheringer on April 25, 2008

“…..The Church needs to wake up too and stop integrating
and mixing the Gospel with the Religion of Psychology in its programs too!
You can not serve two masters! Choose today whom you will follow — the
Mighty Counselor and Intercessor, or your flawed psychotherapist as your
counselor! Psychology is based on myths while Paul in his Second Epistle to
Timothy said to turn aside from myths!” True Discernment

The psychologist has nothing to offer man, but the same old dead theories. It is still basically the humanists answer to church. The evolutionist theory is that man evolved from chemicals to higher life forms over eons of time. Since all man is is a bag of genes, then something must be done to keep the bag of genes from killing itself. They have no concept of sin and no concept of confessing your sins to God. In fact, they have no God, unless you call Darwin a god? Problem is that Darwin is answering to God for his own sin problem. Until man stops long enough to face God and admit that he is a sinner there is no hope. All hope is found in the person of Jesus Christ. What about you have you found hope? All you need to do is come to Christ He not only offers hope He is Hope.

Man’s basic problem is a sin problem. The answer to the sin question lies in the shed blood of Christ for the forgiveness of sin. When a person comes to Christ he or she is given a clean forgiven position in front of God, I should add that it is also permanent, that is it can not be lost. God’s answer in other words to mans sin problem is to offer salvation based on Christs, death, burial and resurrection. Have you believed in the Gospel of Christ and received Him as your personal Savior? This is where the confession comes into it:

“(Rom 10:9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(Rom 10:10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Faith has to come both from the heart and the intellect. Confession, means to agree or to say the same thing. In this case confess means to agree with God’s estimate in Christ dying for your sins. The mouth is the vocal part of salvation, it is the part that echoes agreement with God. Faith has to come from the heart, which is in agreement with the Resurrection of Christ. The righteousness spoken of here is Christ’s righteousness which has been credited to your account before a Just and Holy God. What will it be, will you now acknowledge Him as your only Savior? Or do you want to keep going the way you are going? The broad road leads to death and judgement, then an eternity in hell. Remember Psychology does not have the answer, it only creates more questions and an empty heart, which is in rebellion against God.
